Eryngium giganteum syn: Miss Wilmots Ghost

A base rosette of soft to the touch green paddle shaped foliage, suddlenly gives rise to a sturdy stem (up to around 80cm) turning silver as it matures and producing prickly “flowers” of steely silver. Loved by the bees and pollinators. A reliable biennial self seeding in sunny sites, lovess gravel areas and pathways! So called as the famous plantswoman is reputed to drop seeds in gardens she visited and the next year evidence of her visit was seen in these plants.
