Hydrangea aspera s. sp. Robusta 'Hot Chocolate'

An especially fine aspera form with the usual good sized flower heads with mauve-pink flowers surrounded by dark pink ray florets. This form has huge foliage with dark almost chocolate coloured underneath to the foliage, the upper side is darker in colour than other aspera sorts. The leaf stem is a dark almost red colour. Worthy of a sheltered spot so the gorgeous leaves don't tatter in the cold spring winds.

Sometimes the aspera Hydrangea can be caught by late spring frosts, however they will very soon outgrow any damage.
