This is the most beautiful mix of semi-double and double poppies you will find, in all colours, some have picotee edged petals as well. Mary’s favourite. Bred in late 1880’s by the Rev Wilks who was the vicar of the parish of Shirley, and a prominent member of the RHS. He also bred the Digitalis Excelsior hybrids. . Full sun. Sow. Jan - April to flower 1st year from seed. Later autumn sowings can be overwintered and planted out in spring. Young plants are susceptible to slugs so wait until they are a good size to plant out your seedlings. Min 100 seeds.

The seed we offer can be sown anytime from January to September. Sowing between January and April will require slight warmth (15°C to 21°C) to maintain germination. Later sowings from April to September will not require artificial heat, they will require protection from sudden downpours or extremes of temperature. Seed trays may dry out more easily in summer sun. Further detailed sowing information is sent with the seeds.
