Salvia guaranitica 'Amistad'
This caused such a stir when it was first introduced, a vibrant rich purple flower with a darker purple calyx. We have found plants to be hardier when planted earlier in the summer, later plantings should have a mulch over the crown in their first winter. Such a long and impressive flowering season, often still in flower at the end of October. Like all guaranitica sorts it reappears in June, so don’t be impatient. Sunny open site, average to well drained soils, 150cm. An herbaceous perennial, hardy in all but the very coldest of gardens.

Salvias sent out in summer may be trimmed back, but will quickly re-flower to give you a superb display into the autumn
